Amber
Amber
Gdansk, connected with the sea and the “Baltic Gold of the North”, cultivated the tradition of amber art for centuries. Gdansk amber craftsmen formed their own school of amber processing, and the quality of their products is unrivalled around the world. In recognition of the “amber fame” of Gdansk and the mastery of its amber craftsmen, one of the amber types was named after the city - “gadanit”.

St Mary’s Street
St Mary’s Street (Ulica Mariacka) is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful streets of Gdansk. It leads from St Mary’s Church to Dlugie Pobrzeze promenade and is closed by the medieval St Mary’s Gate. It has excellent examples of the old Gdansk buildings with perrons and narrow, sumptuously decorated facades of tenement houses, which once belonged to rich merchants and goldsmiths. www.gdansk.pl
